Course Scheduling-Master’s & Doctoral

Master’s & Doctoral Students

As an SEU student, you will create your class schedule each semester. You have many resources available to assist with this process, including an academic advisor and a degree audit to track your courses.

Registration Details

  • Fall Semester: Course registration opens for the fall semester in April.
  • Spring Semester: For the spring semester, registration opens in November.
  • Additional Dates: Please view the Academic Calendar for all dates associated with course registration including the add/drop period, open advising period, and course withdrawal deadlines.

To register for courses
Course registration takes place in the JICS Student Information System. Students should have a copy of their degree audit readily available. These documents are located in the SEU Catalog, and a personalized copy of the individual student’s degree audit can be located in JICS (see “Track Your Degree Progress” below).

Log into JICS, click the Course Search link, and select the appropriate term in the drop-down menu.  You will be able to view and select courses as appropriate to schedule each term.

It is important to understand that course registration closes after the add/drop deadline. No additions can be made (including Dissertation hours), and if you wish to be removed from a course, you will not be eligible to drop; rather you will have until the course withdrawal deadline to submit a course withdrawal form. Course withdrawals appear on your transcript with a grade of “W,” and you are charged for the course.

Additional Information

Full-Time/Part-Time Status
Financial aid eligibility is based off of your full or part time status.  Please contact your program coordinator, and the Office of Student Financial Services, to determine your aid eligibility based upon status, as well as the number of hours you should register for each term to remain on track toward graduation.

Incoming credits

Please submit all official transcripts/test results to SEU, and do not register for course(s) for which you have already received credit.  Your program coordinator, along with the Registrar, must approve any graduate-level transfer credit.

To streamline the process, please submit all transcripts immediately upon acceptance to SEU. (Note: The deadline to submit all transferable credit is the end of your first semester of attendance at SEU, however, submitting these as early as possible will give you the best overall picture of your degree progress.)

Transient Courses

Students who wish to take courses from outside institutions must first complete a Transient Form in MySEU and receive approval by the Program Coordinator and Registrar before any course is taken for credit outside of SEU. Once the approved credit(s) are complete, it is the student’s responsibility to request official transcripts to be sent to SEU for evaluation and documentation.

Track Your Degree Progress

Your degree audit indicates your remaining course requirements, who your advisor is, and any specific notes from your advisor.

  1.     Visit the MySEU dashboard and log in
  2.      Select “JICS Student Information”
  3.      Select “Student” tab
  4.      Select “Degree Audit”
  5.      Select “View All Details”
  6.      Click “Recalculate Student Progress”
  7.      Click “Grad Report”
  8.      Your degree audit will appear

For questions about your degree audit, please contact your academic advisor.

Graduation

Eligibility
Students who are within one semester of graduation will be reviewed for eligibility by their program coordinator. All student graduation requirements and information are posted in MySEU.

Application
One semester before graduation, students must complete the graduation application, and must read and understand all graduation information. Get all the information you need here.  Students that apply and are not eligible will not be charged the graduation fee, and will be notified to re apply for the correct graduating term.
