Health Services

How We Can Help

The nurse takes care of minor health problems such as scrapes and cuts, headaches, nausea, coughs and sinus trouble. Although she can only offer over-the-counter medications, she can refer you to a clinic if you need a prescription. There are crutches at the office and Ace bandages for sprains and strains.

To keep our students as healthy as possible, the university offers a voluntary health
insurance plan through AIG.

Eligibility

Voluntary insurance coverage is available for undergraduate and graduate students taking nine credit hours or more. All payments will be made to Cypress Risk Management at 1822 N. 169th Plaza, Omaha, Nebraska 68118.

Health Care Premiums

$1,808 for annual coverage (August 1, 2014, through July 31, 2015)

What Does the Voluntary Student Health Insurance Plan Include?

  • Unlimited maximum benefits (per insured person, per policy year)
  • $250 in-network deductible / $500 out-of-network deductible
  • 80% of allowed charges in network / 60% of reasonable and customary charges out of network
  • Prescription drug benefits: $15 copay for generic / $50 copay for brand name

Enrollment in the Plan

To enroll in the voluntary plan available through AIG, please follow the steps below, as there is no automatic enrollment into health coverage. Open enrollment extends through September 19, 2014.

  • Print and fill out the SEU insurance enrollment form.
  • Mail your enrollment form AND payment directly to Cypress Risk Management at 1822 N. 169th Plaza, Omaha, Nebraska 68118.

Following the recommendations of the ACHA, the Florida statutes and the CDC, Southeastern’s policy requires that all students who live on campus have the following immunizations: two MMRs (measles, mumps, rubella), meningitis (one shot within the past five years) and Hepatitis B (series of three shots). You may elect to waive the meningitis and hepatitis immunizations after reading the information provided and signing the waiver form included with your health packet inside your acceptance package.

A hold will be put on your account, and you won’t be able to register for classes if you fail to submit a record of your immunizations. You could be fined $100 if you don’t have a record of your immunizations or the waiver on file.

Full-time off-campus students also are required to have a record of the dates of their MMR immunizations on file at the nurse’s office.
