Scheduling an appointment with a counselor has never been easier. All appointments are scheduled through our central receptionist in health services. The receptionist will ask you a couple of questions, then schedule your appointment with the next available counselor.
If your situation is an emergency and it is during regular business hours, you will be seen the same day. See emergency procedures below. To ask for an appointment: Come by our office. 1. Walk-in Health Services office (9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) We work alongside clients assisting them in learning new skills that enable them to live full and productive lives while students at SEU, as well as into the future. Your treatment plan will be designed based on your individual needs. We are prepared to provide counseling for issues that are subject to improvement given a relative brief therapy mode. However, we recognize that there are situations that may take longer or require more intensive, specialized services. As a result we do make referrals out to community resources from time to time. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, call the Polk County Emergency Operator, 911. On-campus students may also contact their Resident Director for assistance and direction after regular business hours. In the event of a hospital admission due to mental health reasons, it is important to follow up with a counselor to monitor your progress. Please contact the Counseling Center upon discharge to schedule a post-hospital follow-up appointment. Post-hospital follow-up appointments are usually scheduled within two business days of discharge.
