Health Services

Student-Health-Services

SEU is partnered with our local hospital, Lakeland Regional Health (LRH), to offer all traditional and commuter students unrestricted and comprehensive access to medical care. Being a part of LRH allows our students to be fully integrated into the largest healthcare system in Polk County.

As a student at SEU, your student fees allow for unrestricted access to face-to-face assessments and care on campus. These assessments are unlimited and without additional fees. **

Mental health support is also comprehensive and available on-campus or virtually. Our counseling and clinical staff collaborate to best support our students, should medications be recommended. Counseling services also include daily group counseling sessions, individual counseling, and 24/7 telecounseling services.

Remember: Campus Care is NOT a health insurance plan, but rather a platform for unrestricted access to comprehensive care. Do not cancel your personal insurance. Should the clinician order laboratory testing, prescriptions or radiology services, additional charges will apply and insurance can be billed for those services.

Immunizations

Following the recommendations of the American College Health Association (ACHA), the Florida statutes and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Southeastern’s policy requires that all students who live on campus have the following immunizations:

  • Two MMRs (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Meningitis (at least one shot at age 16 or older)
  • Hepatitis B (series of three shots)

You may elect to waive the meningitis and hepatitis immunizations after reading the information provided here and signing the waiver included on the SEU Medical Health and Information Form. Students may also request to be exempt from other immunization requirements due to a documented medical condition or personal beliefs. Requests for exemptions must be submitted in writing to Health Services at 1000 Longfellow Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33801 or via fax at 863.667.5299.

A hold will be put on your account, and you won’t be able to register for classes if you fail to submit a record of your immunizations. Students without proof of immunization may be restricted from campus and university activities in the event of certain disease outbreaks for which they are not vaccinated.

All traditional students who attend classes on SEU’s Lakeland campus are required to submit a copy of their immunization records and the SEU Medical Health Information Form to Health Services.

For cost information or to make an appointment to get immunized, contact the Polk County Health Department (3241 Lakeland Hills Blvd.) at 863.413.2620.
