Course Scheduling – Partner Sites As an SEU student, you will create your class schedule each semester. You have many resources available to assist with this process, including an academic advisor, a course plan and a degree audit to track your courses.
Registration Details
- Fall Semester: Course registration opens for the fall semester in April for returning students and in June for new students.
- Spring Semester: For the spring semester, registration opens in November for returning students and December for new students.
- Additional Dates: Please view the Academic Calendar for all dates associated with course registration including the add/drop period, open advising period, and course withdrawal deadlines.
- New students will be registered for CORE 1001 (1 credit). All other course registration is the responsibility of the student.
To register for courses
Course registration takes place in the JICS Student Information System. Students should have a copy of their degree audit and course plan readily available. These documents are located in the SEU Catalog, and a personalized copy of the individual student’s degree audit can be located in JICS.
It is important to understand that course registration closes after the add/drop deadline. No additions can be made, and if you wish to be removed from a course, you will not be eligible to drop; rather you will have until the course withdrawal deadline to submit a course withdrawal form. Course withdrawals appear on your transcript with a grade of “W,” and you are still charged for the course.
Additional Information
You will be assigned to a dedicated SEU academic advisor who will assist you in selecting courses throughout your academic career.
Major Declaration
Majors are declared based on the major of interest selected during the admission process. If a change is desired, students must fill out a partner site major/minor form. It is important to register for courses according to your major’s specific degree audit and course plan, so that your classes are covered by financial aid.
Full-Time/Part-Time Status
Each student must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester in order to remain at full time status. Students that are enrolled part time, with less than 12 credit hours on their schedule, will not be eligible to receive certain grants, scholarships and loans.
If the course plan is not followed, graduation may be deferred.
Partner Site Notes
Student Ministry Practicum Hours
Students that are participating in the Student Ministry Practicum at their site will register for the three credit hours before the add/drop period ends, along with the other courses that make up their schedule.
Course Sessions
Course formats may be offered as face-to-face or blended (face-to-face with online components) at your site. Courses are divided into 8-week sessions during the fall or spring semester. Ideally, students will register for two courses in each 8-week session, as well as the Student Ministry Practicum, for a total of 15 credit hours each semester.
To see when your sessions start and end, access JICS and view the columns titled Begin Date and End Date. You are responsible for understanding whether the course is at a site location or online by checking the location of the course on your schedule. Contact your advisor if you have any questions at advising@seu.edu or 863.667.5082.
Incoming credits
If you have AP, CLEP, IB, Dual Enrollment credit, or college transfer credit, please submit all official transcripts/test results to SEU, and do not register for course(s) for which you have already received credit. Dual enrollment transcripts must come from the college, not the high school.
To streamline the process, please submit all transcripts immediately upon acceptance to SEU. (Note: Students must submit final/official transcripts for each institution previously attended prior to starting their first semester at SEU. Final transcripts should not include any coursework listed as “In Progress”).
Articulation Agreement with a State of Florida school
Date AA was conferred must show on transcript
If a student transfers into SEU with an Associate of Arts degree from a state school in Florida:
- We will waive any differences in the general education requirements, with the exception of any prerequisites for major core.
- Any waivers in the general education or religion core must be made up with elective hours.
- The total hours required for the degree does not change.
Transfer Students
Required religion hours for non-religion major transfer students or if the student has earned an AA degree from a State of Florida school.
You are required to take a limited number of religion courses rather than the full religion minor required of non-transfers.

Transient Courses
Students who wish to take courses from outside institutions must first complete a Transient Form in MySEU and receive approval before any course is taken for credit outside of SEU. Once the approved credit(s) are complete, it is the student’s responsibility to request official transcripts to be sent to SEU for evaluation and documentation.
